May 2009
As with many breeders, our spring has been a busy time with new foals being born and mares being bred for next years anticipated foal crop. Our mares and Noble have done us very proud this year. Our first foal to arrive was a big black colt on March 11 out of our mare Joya D by Noble. Justino came into this world rearing to go and was up on all four legs and nursing within an hour and he has not slowed down since. He was DNA coat color tested and was found to be a homozygous black (EEaa) making him capable of producing black offspring. Combined with his correct conformation, beauty, gaits and excellent temperament, he is a must have for someone looking to own a black PRE stallion for breeding and competition.
Palena gave us our first filly of the year, Centella, an exquisitely refined beautiful grey filly. This filly has some of the longest legs I have seen and she uses them to her advantage displaying a beautiful big trot and true to Noble’s mark, an incredible canter. She is a top prospect for riding and showing and will make an excellent broodmare prospect with her refined beauty.
Our lovely and sweet Sincera gave us our second colt of the year, Regalo, meaning gift, which he truly is. This handsome boy who is also very long legged is a beautiful blending of his sire and dam and will be a light bay with black points and he has his mothers white snip on the nose, a spot of white on the forehead and some white on his hind foot. As he was just born, we have to wait and see what his gaits will be like, but like his siblings will no doubt be spectacular. What we do know is that he is a mama’s boy, wanting lay right next to his mother and sometimes rests his head against her leg. We will post pictures of him on his dam’s page under offspring in a couple of weeks.
Daroca is due in May and we are looking forward to seeing the results of this breeding between her and Heroe MAC. This foal is already generating a lot of interest and its no wonder with two beautiful parents each having exceptional movement to give to the foal.
Kudu GF continues in her training and what a spectacular mare she is and truly enjoys the work. We hope to have her in the show ring sometime in May, after we have confirmed her in foal to Noble for a 2010, much anticipated foal.
Our breeding program is meeting and exceeding our goals and our 2009 foal crop is proof of that. We continue to strive to produce excellent riding/showing and breeding horses and our hands on care and training is providing the basis for a good start for all the foals. We invite you to read about how we raise our foals and to visit our farm, so that you can see first hand the quality of our foals and program.
Looks for us in the May edition of Riding Magazine (CA/NV/OR/AZ) publication where Riding Magazine interviewed me on our breeding and training program.
Until next month. Sincerely,
